Dark and cool are not the same thing
Almost everyone who asks us for darker tint actually wants a cooler car. Those are different purchases. Here are two real products from XPEL's own sheet, at opposite ends of the darkness scale.

What that means for your car
You do not have to choose between a car that passes a traffic stop and a car that is bearable in August. The film chemistry does the heat work, not the darkness. Pick the shade you like the look of, then pick the film that performs, and let us meter the front doors before you leave. One detail the table hides: at the 70 shade, which is close to clear, XR PLUS still rejects 52 percent of total solar energy. That makes it the film of choice for a windshield strip or for anyone who wants heat control without changing how the car looks at all.
How to read a spec sheet
Which number is the honest one
Tint shops quote whichever figure flatters the film. Here is what each one measures, so you can compare quotes from anybody, including us.
Read carefully
The two IR numbers
XPEL publishes IR rejection two ways. The headline figure is measured at one single wavelength, 1025 nanometres. The broadband figure, IRER, covers 780 to 2500 nanometres. For XR PLUS those read 96 percent and 70 percent respectively. Both are true. Only one describes real sunlight.
Ignore as a differentiator
UV rejection
Every film on this page rejects 99 percent, and so does most decent film from any brand. It matters enormously for your skin and your interior. It just tells you nothing about which film to buy.
Read carefully
VLT on the box
A film named 35 does not measure 35. XR PLUS 35 reads 38 percent on test glass, and your factory glass pulls the installed number down again. This is exactly how people end up illegal on the front doors.

Glare reduction
The one metric that really does track darkness. If your problem is low sun on the causeway rather than heat, a darker shade on the rear glass is a legitimate answer.

Tolerance
XPEL states a tolerance of plus or minus 3 percent on visible light, solar energy, UV and IR values. Florida's tint statute happens to allow the same 3 percent on measurement. Do not spend both.
The lifetime warranty

Every PRIME film we install carries XPEL's limited lifetime warranty, and unlike most film warranties in this industry, it transfers with the vehicle.

The first week
Leave the windows alone
| First 3 to 5 days | Do not roll the windows down. The mounting solution is still evaporating and the film has not fully bonded. Rolling a window down early is the single most common way a fresh install gets ruined. |

| Haze and small pockets | Completely normal. A slight milky look or tiny water pockets clear on their own as the film cures, usually within a week or two and faster in Florida heat. Do not press them. |
| Cleaning | Wait a few days, then use an ammonia free cleaner and a soft microfibre. Ammonia attacks film adhesive and dye. Most blue household glass cleaners contain it. |
| Rear defroster lines | Film is installed over them and they keep working. Just be gentle when cleaning the inside of the rear glass, because the film edge sits against those lines. |

Which film should I actually pick?
For a car that lives outside in Southwest Florida, XR PLUS. It rejects the most solar energy at every shade, and the difference is not subtle in a parked car in August.
XR BLACK is the value ceramic option and gives you a deeper black look with most of the performance. CS makes sense when the priority is the appearance, colour stability and full UV protection rather than heat, or when the car is garaged most of the time.
Is ceramic tint really worth the difference?
Compare the infrared numbers rather than taking anyone's word for it. At the 35 shade, CS rejects 11 percent of broadband infrared. XR BLACK rejects 58 percent. XR PLUS rejects 70 percent.
Infrared is the part of sunlight you physically feel. That gap is the entire argument, and it is why we quote ceramic by default for anything parked outdoors here.
Will tint interfere with my phone, GPS or toll transponder?
No. All three PRIME films are non metallic, so there is nothing in them to block a signal. This used to be a genuine problem with older metalized and sputtered films.
If someone tells you tint killed their reception, they had metallic film. It is not a concern with anything on this page.
How dark can I legally go in Florida?
Front side windows must let at least 28 percent of light through, on every vehicle. Behind the driver, sedans and coupes stop at 15 percent while SUVs, vans and trucks can go to 6 percent.
Those are measured on the installed glass, film plus factory glass together, not the number printed on the film. We have the full breakdown with statute references on our Florida tint law page, and we meter every front door before the car leaves.
Can you tint my windshield?
Only a transparent strip along the top, above the AS-1 line marked on your glass. Full windshield film is not legal in Florida at any darkness.
That said, an XR PLUS 70 windshield strip is one of the most effective comfort upgrades available, because it rejects 52 percent of total solar energy while looking essentially clear. Clear windshield protection film is a separate product for chip protection.
Will the tint turn purple or bubble?
Not on any film we install. Purple fade and bubbling are what happens to cheap dyed film once the dye breaks down under UV, and both are named in the covered defects of the XPEL lifetime warranty.
That coverage is the practical difference between a film that lasts the life of the car and one that needs stripping in three years.
How long does the install take?
Window tint is typically a same day service. Time depends on the vehicle, since some rear glass shapes and frameless doors take considerably longer to do properly.
You get a firm timeline with your quote. Everything is installed in house by our own team, never subcontracted.
Can old tint be removed and replaced?
Yes, and it is a normal part of the job. Failed film comes off with steam and patience. Older film that has baked on for years takes longer, and adhesive residue has to be cleaned off completely before new film goes down.
We quote removal separately and honestly, because the condition of what is already on there makes a real difference to the labour.
